Finding the right fit is never easy, and when it comes to finding the right fit in plus size clothing, the task becomes almost impossible. There are so many sizes and so many size charts, how can you find the right size for you?
Never go by a size!
If you know you are a size 32 or a size 2x, then that may hold truth for one designer, but does not necessarily fit all designers. Keep an eye out for what designer offers what. Knowing your exact measurement may come in handy, but this is unrealistic to always know what size you are that day.
Try on those new plus size clothes!
There are always fitting rooms, and there is a reason. Strangely enough, plus size women utilize the fitting room much less than the “average” size woman. Step into the fitting room, get comfortable, and see how you really look in that new outfit! If you find the right size, check out the designer. You will most likely find that if you are a 3X by that designer’s standard, all size 3X by that designer will fit.
Too tight and too baggy is a no-no!
Plus size clothing should not be too baggy or too tight. There is water gain, and various other reasons a size varies from time to time. However, generally staying within your own size range will give you a better look and a better feel. Too tight and, well, it just looks tacky. Too baggy and you will find you look larger than you really are.
Often, too baggy is preferred because it conceals and covers, but having a shape is better than being swallowed by your blouse.
Just remember, when it comes to plus size clothing, do what feels best for you and your lifestyle. I highly suggest using the fitting room because it only takes a moment, and you can see if that is really what you like.

Finding plus size pants can be, at best, tedious and filled with anxiety. There are few categories in plus size clothing that are as evolving as the concept of how pants fit the plus size woman. There are so many different ways a woman will carry her weight, that the bottom portion of the body has virtually endless possibilities when it comes to shapes and sizes.
Some women tend to carry more weight in the hips, while others will carry more weight in the belly area, and do not even get me started on the thighs! For the petite plus size women, finding plus size pants can be horrific and tragic.

I know I noticed that extended plus sizes are not yet available in the majority of stores if you are looking for denim pants. Finding cotton, polyester, rayon, or a combination of materials is common. Plus size pants have to fit the body, and no longer do all plus size pants have elastic waistbands.

When it comes to finding the best plus size shirts for your wardrobe, finding a comfortable fit is as important as finding the right colors and designs. Of course, finding plus size clothing that fits tends to get more difficult as the sizes increase, but the woman with an eye for detail will find that finding a high quality, affordable plus size shirt can be a reality.

What do I look for in a plus size shirt?
Well, the first thing I look for is the design. Does it fit with what I am looking for? If I purchase that plus size shirt, do I have to purchase pants, shorts, or skirts to match? Do I like the design?
After I know what design I want, I look for a cut. I like square neck plus size shirts usually, but I also like v-neck shirts. Most often I avoid tank tops simply because I do not like my arm hanging out. My arms just happen to be one of those trouble spots for me.
When I figure out what kind of cut the plus size shirt has, I look for the length. I am not fond of short hems. The longer the better in my opinion, but I am sure everyone has their own preference. I usually look for 30-inch shirts, but will settle for shorter since 30-inch is not all that common.
While plus size shirts are common, a good fitting plus size shirt tends to be elusive for me. Once you find a designer or retailer that offers what you like, keeping them close at hand is important. Junior size clothing, as with any popular fashion category, have a few dos and don’ts that seem to be evident when it comes to any occasion or just from day to day. The junior woman is often built with a smaller frame than other categories, and catering to that smaller frame means purchasing junior size clothing that is attractive and flattering to your body shape.

Do you like prints? Wear prints, but keep those prints small so that the large prints do not swallow your slim build.

Look for sizing charts! One thing that annoys me more quickly than anything is ordering one size outfit only to discover that it is the wrong size. Designers, yes even in the plus size clothing category, vary a great deal on popular sizes. The best way for any woman to get the proper fit is to know her exact measurements in centimeters or inches. Then, shopping can be done by that measurement not the popular sizing chart.

Missy Size Clothing

Ugh, after a visit to a local department store, I realized that just because something says it will fit a size 12 does not mean it will fit me. Once upon a time, I felt I wore my size branded across my forehead with the hopes that today, right now, I would actually wear the appropriate size. I learned an important lesson…
Know thy measurements!
Stephen Fry once said , “When you’ve seen a nude infant doing a backward somersault you know why clothing exists.” No truer words existed, and finding the right sizes in clothing is an important step to insure you and I are not going through our day dressed for those backward somersaults.
Taking a simple tape measure, a pen and piece of paper can save a lot of hassles at any retail store.
When taking those measurements, the first step is to place the tape measure around the chest area. With the back straight, and the tape measure under the armpits, measure the distance where the tape measure meets on the chest. I like to add a finger width or two to the measurement to insure it is not skin tight. Also, be sure not to pull so tight you cut off blood circulation.
For the hips, another important measurement, measure around the largest part of your back end. Again, not too snug!
Finally for the waist, measure directly around the navel area. I like to leave a shirt on for this purpose to insure a good fit.
